Kristen V.A period tracker app can help you track your flow, understand when you're at your most fertile, and plan for the dreaded symptoms that may or may not come along with your period. “If you really want to use an app, look for one that allows users to stay anonymous, that stores information on your device rather than in the cloud, and that clearly states that the company will not share or sell your data,” says Givens. Some period tracking apps, such as Euki, similarly, prioritize privacy more than others. When discussing sensitive topics, for example, it’s a good idea to make sure you’re using a messaging app with end-to-end encryption, such as Signal. Some web browsers and messaging apps are built with more privacy in mind than others. A person's online search history and internet browsing history can be collected, stored and shared.” Barnett, at the EFF, says compartmentalizing sensitive data is a good way to keep it more private. “Your cellphone provider and other apps on your phone know your location and may store and sell that data, which can reveal whether you’ve visited a particular medical provider. “It’s important to know that users' private health information is exposed in many more places than just an app,” says Alexandra Givens, president of the Center for Democracy & Technology. In other cases, women have been prosecuted using text messages and web search history. “We have examples elsewhere of how data is used against people in cases around abortion, and it’s not on period tracker apps.” In one case, for example, police used Facebook messages to investigate an alleged illegal abortion. “People that are worried about their reproductive health data ought to think a bit bigger than just period tracker apps,” says Barnett. It’s not that your data is necessarily protected in period tracking apps, says Barnett, but more that our digital footprints extend far beyond them. “The short answer is no, people don’t need to rush to delete their period tracker apps, even if they’re in states that ban abortion,” says Daly Barnett, a staff technologist at the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Our data, after all, is the currency that powers pretty much everything we do online. If you’re in a state now rolling back rights to reproductive care, it makes sense to question whether you should still be tracking your period in an app - once your data is in there, it’s next to impossible for you to control which third parties might have access to it. (The ban has been temporarily stayed.) And by tracking not only when you get your period, but also when you miss it, period tracking apps do contain extremely sensitive data. It was just last week that Wyoming went so far as to enact a ban not only on abortion, but also abortion pills - a first. Wade? Elizabeth, Seattle, Washington In the past year or so women in America have been forced to contend with the fact that rights we have long taken for granted may not be quite as unassailable as once thought. Should women in the US be concerned about the government using their data from period tracking apps against them in light of the overturning of Roe v. One reader is wondering how to best protect her privacy as reproductive rights are under fire in America. Central episode is new, but sounds like another train wreck. I'm going to watch just to see the awful bathroom tile clashes, and the total incompetence of the two flippers. This Thursday there's a rerun, supposedly with bonus scenes, and extra facts, at 7 central of Legacy and Patricia. They were romantic partners last show, no longer, and now aren't flipping houses together either. They didn't even look at the inspector's report, just as they didn't look at the disclosures this time. Kitchen cabinets were some kind of wood grain, and had to be refinished so they didn't look like plywood. They're the ballroom dancers who bought a house and financed the rehab in the mortgage too, which horrified Tarek (usually the mortgage is for the house, and they finance the remodel separately). The first time Legacy and Patricia appeared, they were very irritating to me. I think they under report the costs, and other things that hurt the profit Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if it was under contract before the open houses, or any other shenanigans for filming. They're lucky that the original offer of $2.4 still existed after the failure of the open house to bring more offers. Patricia and Legacy are spliting the partnership. Open house viewers don't like the price, or want to go over asking. The floor tile in that bath doesn't go with the shower tile, or anything else in the bathroom. Main bedroom is OK, main bath is spectacular, but other two bedrooms and shared bath are small, and I hate the Sautillo tile in the shared bath. So, they're having an open house to get more offers.īack yard is small. They went way over budget at $450k, break even is $1.898 million. They added the third bedroom by splitting the second bedroom, and $2.5 for a three bedroom is bizarre to me. They're up to $2.4 with the prospective buyers, but comps are $2.1, and $2.2, and they want to wait for a much higher offer. I hate the stone wall in the kitchen, with the counter tops. I hate the bathroom saultillo floor tile, with the shower tile, it's not a cohesive look. The laundry room looks like a laundry closet. You want to appeal to the largest buying pool, not a small portion of buyers. I'm also sick of hearing about the flippers vision. I don't need Patricia and Legacy breaking up the partnership on the remodel time on the show. Legacy didn't check with the city, so the front deck extension was almost done, and was ripped out because it didn't look at city rules on set backs. There's supposed to be a potential buyer for $2.25 without contingencies, with $535,000 profit. Tarek's health issues show he has Celiac, gluten allergy. Patricia wants to do another funky kitchen, with stone back splash up the wall to the ceiling. I hope the screwups are just for the filming. So, they did demo and the deck, before permits were finished by the city. Legacy didn't check the disclosures, so the springs near the pool might crack it, but it turns out OK. Patricia has a 'surprise', that's never good. If this flip doesn't turn out with a big profit, then the two will go their separate ways. They're no longer a couple, and their second flip barely made a profit. With a 6 month timeline, break even is $1,715 million. It is a vintage property from the 1920s, and the ‘Flip or Flop’ duo plan on renovating it so that the original character of the house stays intact and they can modernize it as well.Legacy and Patricia, return flippers, buy house for $1.255, with a $300k rehab budget. In the ninth season, Tarek and Christina flip a house in Hollywood. Here are more details about specific cities and neighborhoods where ‘Flip or Flop’ has been filmed. The show follows realtors and professional house flippers, Christina and Tarek, as they buy several run-down properties in varying stages of dereliction all over Southern California and then beautify them. HGTV’s ‘Flip or Flop’ is filmed entirely on location in Southern California. Curious to know where they film ‘Flip or Flop’? We’ve got all the information for you right here. On the show, Christina is mostly in charge of the interior design while Tarek handles the demolition and reconstruction. They may not have worked out as a romantic couple, but the two still make an awesome team, a complete force to reckon with in the highly competitive world of house flipping. The great thing about the former couple is that they are able to work together still in harmony after their divorce. The team price point for each helmet will be around $750, fully equipped with all hardware.Īll Riddell helmets go through extensive laboratory and on-field testing as part of the design and development process.

The CityRadio isn’t perfect: It requires a Bluetooth-enabled phone to stream the radio stations, and though the city buttons are fun, someone still has to program their placement in the CityRadio app. At its best, the CityRadio frees someone from the digital interface of their phone screen or computer as they scroll through radio stations around the globe. The CityRadio is a way to scan the radio stations of major cities all over the world. It’s an oddly soothing experience to turn on a Bluetooth speaker and, with the press of a few buttons, tune into (for example) a Cuban news broadcast. Meta has at least one significant leg up on Twitter: the size of its existing user base. Frequent technical issues and policy changes have sent some noteworthy Twitter users heading for the exits. Many Twitter users have expressed desire for an alternative since Musk took over the platform late last year. But it may have the greatest chance at success. Threads is just the latest platform launched in recent months in hopes of unseating Twitter as the go-to app for real-time, public conversations. Threads is available in 100 countries and more than 30 languages via Apple’s iOS and Android, according to the company. While users can temporarily deactivate their profiles via the settings section on the app, the company says in its privacy policy that “your Threads profile can only be deleted by deleting your Instagram account.” Some users have also raised concerns about the amount of data that the Threads, like Instagram, can collect about users, including location, contacts, search history, browsing history, contact info and more, according to the Apple App Store. Users can also import the list of accounts they follow directly from Instagram, making it super easy to get up and running on the app.īut it’s not quite so easy to leave Threads. Users sign up through their Instagram accounts and keep the same username, password and account name, although they can edit their bio to be unique to Threads. Some users did experience occasional glitches and issues getting content to load in the early hours after Threads launched, but that is to be expected when millions of users are joining and using an app at once. “We hope to take what Instagram does best and create a new experience around text, ideas, and discussing what’s on your mind.” “The vision for Threads is to create an option and friendly public space for conversation,” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a Threads post following the launch. Verified Instagram accounts are automatically verified on Threads. Thread accounts can also be listed as public or private. Meta officially launches Twitter rival Threads. But the app also blends Instagram’s existing aesthetic and navigation system, and offers the ability to share posts from Threads directly to Instagram Stories. Similar to Twitter, users can reply to, repost and quote others’ Threads posts. Meta said messages posted to Threads will have a 500-character limit. The platform looks a lot like Twitter, with a feed of largely text-based posts - although users can also post photos and videos - where people can have real-time conversations. Threads is a new app from the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. Here is everything we know so far about Meta’s Threads: And for Meta, Threads could further expand its empire of popular apps and provide a new platform on which to sell ads. But Twitter has become particularly vulnerable in recent days, angering users over a temporary limit on how much content users can view each day. Threads could pose a serious threat to Twitter, which has faced backlash since Elon Musk t ook over the platform in October 2022 and has run it with a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants approach. The mood on Threads on the night of its launch felt a bit like the first day of school, with early adopters rushing to try out the app and write their first posts - and some questioning whether the app could end up being the “Twitter killer.” As of Thursday morning, Threads was the top free app on Apple’s App Store and a top trending topic on Twitter. Threads is already off to a strong start: it received 100 million sign-ups in less than a week, the app shows, including a large number of brands, celebrities, journalists and many other prominent accounts. Facebook-parent Meta officially launched its Twitter competitor, Threads, last Wednesday, after first confirming its plans for the app just three months ago. Dancers in the second school of thought are focused more on being competitive, with hopes of placing high during the overall awards. Dancers in this category might be experimenting with a new genre, need a little nudge to take their skills to the next level, and/or do not really care if/where they place. The first is that they simply want more experience and training. Generally, dancers take on a solo for one of two primary reasons. Personally, I know of a school that offers solos to each and every dancer in their company! You’ll need to check with the staff of your particular school to find out how the process works there. Still other schools may require a tryout or audition. Some decide on a general number of kids that they would like to see take the stage, while others take it on a case-by-case basis. They might offer the opportunity to specific dancers that have met certain criteria, or they might allow families to put in a request. So, how did your child get this honor? Studio owners approach the distribution of solos differently. No matter where your dancer falls on this spectrum, you need to consider several factors before you say “yes.” Who Gets It? And for still others, it’s more of a “meh” experience. For others, it may create an internal conflict (“Do I really want this?”). Bubbling with excitement, they yell, “I got a solo invitation!”įor many dance kids, this is the moment they’ve been waiting for their entire dance career. Imagine this: One day at pick-up, your child races to the car and yanks open the door, jumps in, and slams it closed with an energy that could rival a nuclear power plant. However, I am at the point where I think MS’ experiment with using AI in VS may require rethinking. I appreciate the work MS is continuing to do to enhance the Intellisense and developer experience in Visual Studio. I have to say that VisualAssist and ReSharper++ do all of these things mostly flawlessly but I was really hoping by now I wouldn’t need either of these anymore :-). They are modern C++ projects that I open with File->Open CMakeLists.txt. None of that works at all in my projects. Or if your type is called “BigDog” and you type “BD” (and ctrl+space to force the auto-complete drop-down) it should offer “BigDog” at the top. For example if you have an object of type Dog called dog, and it contains a member function “get_my_dog()”, you would type “dog.gmd”+tab it should auto-complete to dog.get_my_dog() instantly. Also, CamelHump (or camel_hump with snake case) doesn’t work at all (if you don’t know what it is: It means you type the starting letters of each word in a function, and the auto-complete will suggest that as the top answer then). In my code at least, if a namespace and a local variable have a similar name (start with the same characters), it also always highlights the namespace as the first choice. The suggestion list, including the top suggestions, are most of the time weird Boost macros or other standard-library or third-party types, functions and macros, even when the actual top choice would be an obvious local variable or function. I’m on the latest VS 2022 (17.4.5) and I have to say I unfortunately find IntelliCode, or the auto-complete in general, very sub-par, to say it gently. The IntelliCode team is not only excited to help improve your productivity, but also to learn about your scenarios that could be improved with AI.
